buying new B6-stick or Tiptronic?

You cannot get the Vr6 with a manual. You can only get a stick on 2.0T VE and 2.0T standard (no options) cars in the USA.

If I were going for the 2.0T I'd stick with the stick  ;-) If I didn't plan to keep the car forever, I'd probably go with the  Tip, simply because it'd probably be easier to sell. Personally, I'd go  with the stick regardless, as that's what I prefer. As far as  reliability issues, the only time I've heard of folks blowing one up is  when they chip the engine to an extreme. Like everything else, if you  care for it (which you obviously will) it should be fine.
