not sure, but it'll haul a helluva lot..
the vanagon is the biggest interior cargo hold i've ever had,
i can carry 12ft lumber INSIDE my camper with the hatch closed.
I've hauled 25 80# bags of concrete, 2 occupants, and a dozen 4x4s for a fence job,
thats in my camper full kitchen and drinks in the fridge.. not only hauls gear but it's a chuck wagen. .
my syncro project (for long range AK and rockies trips) is where i'm planning on putting a 10vT
I'm needing to turn 30' tires maintain 75mph with passing power left.
I've been wanting about 125-150 HP but not too much to break the tranny.
so a low compression I5 turbo should sufice. with the granny gear in the syncro i'm not as concerned about low end torque,
but from my few runs about in the 5000, I'd say it's got plenty.. and of course theres plenty of pedal left..
the vanagons are geared for a 4-5K redline, which will let me run longer on the shifts bringing up boost and HP/pull.
some people put subaru SVX 6cyl 250hp mills in theirs, so i'm sure theres some extra tranny strength.. but i prefer to stay VAG.
Dan projects galore..

Yeah, no kidding! Anyone know the capacity of a Vanagon (in cases of beer)?
