Both cars use the same tranny, just different gearing. I used a JT
flywheel and added the required pins. I only did this because there
were no MC flywheels available in my area and I got a real good deal
on a SPEC clutch. If you plan to crank up the boost go with an MC
flywheel or aftermarket clutch. If you stay stock the JT will
probably be fine. If you use a JT flywheel you will need to add one
pin. The MC/KH ECU uses two sensors for the ignition system. One
reads the teeth of the starter for RPM and the other reads the
flywheel pin for TDC information.
You asked about the knock sensor, it is on the side of the block.
Just to put my vote in I would strongly recommend going with
MegaSquirt or a commercial EFI system (like 034efi) right off the bat.
It will save you heartache in locating the CIS system. If you want
to take it a little bit at a time you could just put in the MC
ignition to start and use fuel control only. I started with full CIS
(lots more work), then about a year later went to MegaSquirt for
fueling. Make sure you keep your JT distributor if you go MS so you
can use the 5 window hall sensor setup later to convert to full MS
control if you wish.
Good luck!
