I have the original radio/tape deck in my '88 and for various reasons am
not planning on changing it. But I'd like to tote around a portable media
player and listen to it without headphones. Is there any kind of unit
that can send a signal to my _old fashioned stereo_ so my stereo system
will amplify the portable media player?

Have any of you actually done this? How'd you do it?

Tess, there are 'car kits' available for MP3 players (which is what I assume you're talking about) that consist of the part that looks like a cassette tape with a cable that plugs into the MP3 player. It runs just like a cassette tape but plays the MP3 player music. I believe there are also kits which will transmit through a certain FM channel. I have been considering getting something for my Dell Jukebox mini player but am not really sure what the sound quality is like on either of them.
