wheel question

Yes, have a look at the door jamb. The curb weight on my Avant is about
3900 pounds. The GVWR is quite different.

Personally, I wouldn't have changed out the UFO's, but then I'd never have
gotten to experience the difference. Wow. I think UFO's are adequate, but
these are wonderful. And they're not even new. The pedal response is
immediate and they are so easy to modulate. It seems they're so good that
the rears rarely get used much as those rotors do not look super clean like
I would expect them to.

With the load I was carrying on my maiden voyage back to CO from LA, the
brakes were welcome, if thankfully never fully needed. And I'd have been
very interested in having tires with the proper load rating considering how
much weight I had in the back.

Are you tiring an Avant or a sedan? Either way, the original tire on that
year was 205/60-15, slightly smaller than on my 91. So the 215/50 would
give a larger discrepance from stock for your car. You might consider a
205/50-17 unless the load rating won't "support" you. ;-) (or was the one
of the sizes you originally mentioned?)

With what I'm going after, the wheel width will remain the same as stock,
the tire width will remain mostly similar to stock and I'm going to use the
same original offset. The only dimension that will grow is the wheel
diameter and how much room is available inside of it for the brakes. This
also means that there should be no concerns about interference with tie rod
ends or fender wells, the latter of which is a much greater concerned on the
non-flared fenders of an early type 44.
