Don't know about other models and other joints but I do know that the 
boot for the ball joint on the type 44 is available as a separate item 
from the dealer. Quite reasonable too as I recall, under ten bucks. 
BTW, tie rod ends respond well to the use of a two jaw puller which 
leaves the boot intact. A pox on those pickle fork things unless used 
as a last resort. The type 44 ball joint unfortunately doesn't allow 
for a puller due to the way in which it's mounted, hence my knowledge 
of boot replacement.
