I've had the stop on the end of the hood release cable break off, or slip off, several times on my numerous (5) type 44's. I'm not familiar with the grille on your 80Q, but I suspect you may be able to open the hood like I do (more frequently than I would like).
Make a tool from a sturdy wire coat-hanger. You'll need a straight piece about a foot long, with a short hook (about half an inch long) on the end. Insert the hook through the grille (or the gap between the hood and the grille), locate the appropriate loop which locks the hood, and give it a pull. With a bit of practise, and perhaps a flashlight to help illuminate the area, you should be able to open the hood in 30 seconds or less. On one of my type 44's, I never did get around to repairing the hood release cable, since the stop broke off, and didn't leave enough cable to attach another one. I just made two of the described tools, kept them in the driver's door storage (map?) compartment, and was able to open the hood whenever I wanted, in about 10 seconds.
HTH,
Richard
