coil problems?

Can someone recap the problems that Audi was having with the coils. Wasn't
there a recall? My dads 03 A6 was just towed to the dealer for the 3rd time
in 3 years. Symptom was running on 4 cylinders. Each time they said they
replaced the coil.  Does dealer service like this show up on a carfax
report?

Last Audi for him. New one every 3-4 years since 1981 and dealer doesn't
give 2 cents of care.
