Ignition replacement

Well, I seem to have really fouled things up with my '86 5K. While trying to diagnose an intermittent no-start condition, I managed to turn the ignition key past the "start" position, and the key and cylinder pulled out of the dash. I wasn't forcing it (honest). It looks like the small pin which holds the cylinder in place fell out. I can still turn the switch with a pair of needle nosed pliers, but I would like to replace the ignition (if possible). I've got several spare parts cars, and I plan to remove the complete steering lock assembly from one of them, and install it in the '86 5K.
I've looked in the Bentley, and only found that I need to drill out the shear bolt in the steering lock assembly (Section 48.2). I've looked in the archives, and can't find any reference to replacing the steering lock assembly, the ignition switch, or the ignition cylinder.
Is there an easier way to fix this? Can I somehow install a new cylinder without having to remove the steering lock assembly? Can I replace the electrical portion of the switch the same way?
I know I've read somewhere the procedure to do this job, but I can't seem to find it. I'm hoping the collective wisdom of this list can shed some light on this problem.
Thanks in advance,
Richard.
