Hi all,

I have read most of the posts of the subject Ultranator and I would like to
add some useful information:

* Any voltage regulator would work on the Ultranator, nothing
special needed, same as OEM, if you have one of my units and the VR is bad I
will be more than happy to send you a replacement at no cost, and if you are
in a rush I would send it next day air (I have done that many times to guys
that had MORE than 4 year old units)

* I would also perform the above with no questions asked with a
complete unit; I have done that for units that were more than 3 years old.

* When you are using a high output alternator or Ultranator, the VR
life might be a bit shorter due to high demand of electrical power.

* When I supply customers with 170+AMP unit I usually suggest an
external VR

* The VR in question is over 2 years old (to the best of my
recollection!), on a high demand (AMP) alternator, that is MORE than
adequate

* OEM (AUDI older vehicles) alternators, do not have sufficient
electrical power (when high electrical load is needed), so it is very useful
to get a high output alternator.

* For the most part, (unless there is a special request!), I choose
not increase the power above 25 to 35% of rated power, precisely to conserve
VR life. Any power above that shortens the life of the VR.

* As for the comments made regarding OEM rebuilds; I have here over
10 brand new OEM, Bosch! (Not auto parts store rebuilds), that have failed
for customers. They are using my Ultranator instead.

* I do not, or ever did treat this list as regular customers; I
always think of you more as WEB friends, yes Brett and Hew are included. I
always did and will go out of my way to satisfy any request reasonable or
not

You guys take care and if you have any questions comments or words of
wisdom, please let me know, I am always lurking on the list. I have been in
the automotive business for many years (with OEM and tier one supplier), I
am ASE certified and have numerous patents to my name. I deal with
automotive quality day in and day out and I am involved with many JD Power
surveys and investigations of many diverse automotive MFG.

Not sure if this helps at all but a company named Jebco sells a

voltage regulator replacement for Audis. They have one up on eBay:

I know nothing of this company; just an FYI.
