speaking of A3 quattros...

Henry-
The official word out of Audi USA is that the 3.2 quattro will be the only
A3 quattro
due to the commonality of drivetrain between the A3 3.2q and the TT 3.2-
they both
use the same DSG gearbox, same engine and the same rear fuel tank assembly.
Apparently, the fuel tank differences between the quattro and Frontrak
versions require
the car to be recertified for emissions. The TT 3.2 DSG is already certified
and the
2.0T probably has the same certification for the Golf/Jetta V.
When I was selling Audis, I used to get this question constantly.
I'd want a 2.0 TDI quattro w/ 6-speed manual, that would be a car I'd get.
The other problem with the A3 quattro is the high price- you can get a
pretty nicely
equipped A4 Avant for the same price, albeit 2.0T. A 3.2 A4 wouldn't be very
far in price,
though, and can be had with a 6-speed manual now, rather than the DSG, if
that is
a positive for you.
I'd try driving an A4 3.2q 6-speed w/ sport package if you want to replace
the 200- that's
a pretty nice setup (I'd skip the s-line package unless you have to have the
18" wheels).
