There is a discussion in the archives about this. Audi makes an
assumption that you will use a 36 inch torque wrench with a 12 inch (the
adaptor tool) extension. This results in a 1 1/3 torque multiplication
making the 258 ft-lbs reading on the wrench (350 Nm) correspond to 344
ft-lbs (465 Nm) at the bolt.
Formulas are well published and our previous thread on torque went
through all the logic on why they are correct. Trust me... it is so.
Just make sure that the extension and wrench are in line, because
otherwise you have to apply a cosine of the angle correction to your
setting.
So any way you can get 344 ft-lbs on that bolt will work. Breaker bar
and your weight, actual torque wrench with the extension, etc..
