Replacing Front Strut Inserts: First step ?

I cant speak to the 100 series, but my 1991 90q did not require removal 
of the hub. You did need to free it from the ball joint, and remove the 
tie rod from the steering arm it connects to (which is part of the 
strut) . I expect you need to do the same on yours.  Why dont you get 
the bentley? You really should.

If copies of the appropos page from my 90 bentley would help, I could 
send one (jpeg).
