A200 Hydraulic pump leak, and servo issues

Geraint,
It is worth doing the full R&R in one hit. With 3 x Type 44 under my care I
have never seen one of these pumps fail in any way other than leaking. The
rebuild is pretty easy. I did find that the "body" seal (only very big
O-ring) in my rebuild kit was too small (thickness) and I had to source one
from NAPA for ~ $1.
Regards

Subject: A200 Hydraulic pump leak, and servo issues
Hi,
the car is a 10v 200tqa
I have a dribble from one of the caps (that require the modified 'drag link
tool' to remove) on the front part of my hydralic pump.
I have a rebuild kit that came with the car. should that tell me something?
my questions are:
1. is it worth replacing the o rings under only one of the caps, or does a
leak there suggest that the whole pump needs an overhaul so doing one is a
waste of time?
2. do the mechanical parts of the pump fail or is it generally just the
seals?
I have seen stuff in the knowledge-base about how to rebuild pumps, but not
why- hence the questions.
