It may take a few minutes of running until they get pumped up again. How
long has it been running so far?

Subject: lifter clatter

I just got the URQ running again with the newly rebuilt block (WX), and
the
big valve hydraulic head which was sitting for about 4 months is
clattering
annoyingly. The rings rods and mains are new so I don't want to rev it
too
high. Oil pressure is good, and I'm using Rotella Synthetic 5-40.
Any secrets to getting them to "pump up"? I can't put it under load yet
as I
have to bleed the brakes and clutch as well as a bunch of other fiddly
bits
to wrap up.
If I have to take them out and soak them, I will just sit and cry for a

while as my body is just not up to anymore of this.
TIA

PS There is no feeling quite like having a newly built engine fire on
first
attempt.
AFTER of course cranking with no coil to get it oiled up.
