Thanks, Mr. Ritchie for that wonderfully thorough explanation.  Mine was a
lot less accurate; I should have also mentioned that the boost gauge is an
absolute pressure gauge.  tmb, you just heard it straight from the
undisputed master and sage of Audi boost enhancement.

Also keep in mind that the zener mod. you are contemplating, while allowing
for "unlimited" boost, will also allow the  engine to run lean if the
wastegate spring you choose is too strong.  The stock CIS system can't
supply an adequate quantity of fuel after the boost level gets into
the 2.0BAR+ range, and remember that you will also be past the limit
of the stock
pressure transducer in the ECU if you push the boost that high.
