Are you aware of Kayak.com? Also, several carriers don't list their
fares with any of the search engines; Southwest is one of them.

If I were in your shoes- having it transported or driven in this case
would be worth the $. Look at it this way- it'd be -really- bad if
the car broke down and you were late back, right? And what does
Murphy's law say about that sort of thing? :-)

I can't think of anyone better qualified to look over the car before
leaving, and take care of any issues that might crop up along the
way...if you decide to go that route.
