My 91 90 quattro 20V may or may not have a primative serial interface
(ISO-9141??). I never got the ambition to buy a VAG-COM and try it
out. Something called rapid data transfer in the Bentley that is only
functional on late model year 1991s.
The earlier cars had a blink code that require an LED (which I built)
or putting a bulb in the check engine light socket (not installed at
the factory).
There is however a neat Climate control system that shows faults and
status through the temperature display. Maybe that is what they were
referring to.
Do you feel lucky???? There are many simple things that could be
wrong with this car (broke distributor gear, etc). A compression
tester would answer the bent vavle question pretty quick.
