More notes from my experiences:

The crossing into MI is at Sarnia/Port Huron.
Border crossing is only 10-15 min if you are not close to rush hour.

Also avoid Chigago during rush hour.

US Route 20 loosely follows I90 until Iowa, so if you need a change of
scenery you get get off 90 for a while without getting lost.
