Well one that has sorta been done (and VERY well IMHO) is the BMW M1 with
the 840 and 850 cars. It's not a direct re-do, but very reminiscent of the
M1 especially in the front.
In thier own special way you could say Porsche makes one too...the most
current 997 being obviously 911-like (duh), and of course the 987 a spin off
of the 550 and 718 cars.
