 From what I've heard, once the Ultra Low Sulpher Diesel fuel makes it 
to nation-wide (originally scheduled this spring, now this fall), the 
diesels will be able to meet the California clean air regs with some 
neat new emissions attachments.  Other rumors are that there won't be 
any VW MY 2007 cars because of the uncertanty of ULSD availability 
combined with the 2007 phase-in of new emissions regs which will require 
the new emissions attachments (indirectly via pollution output mandates) 
which themselves require ULSD be available.  The hope is for MY 2008 to 
start very early in 2007 once ULSD is solidly available, etc.  Again, 
this is all largely rumors and speculation, but it does sound like we're 
going to be getting an Audi diesel in the near future.
