Actually,I look this stuff up earlier today, sinc I never remember which 
  spec Pentosin, goes in what vehicle. Here is waht I found out.

   7.1 (White Pentosin can) is for the pre 89 type 44s and it is a 
mineral based hydraulic oil. 11S(Green Can) is synthetic and is backward 
compatible with 7.1.

7.1 should not be used in the later cars '89 and up. 11S,the synthetic 
stuff, has a higher operating temp. range and that seems to be why Audi 
changed the spec. (of course it also costs more!!)

Type 85 cars, Turbo quattro coupes, Coupe GT's and 4000's all use the 
red transmission/power steering fluid Dexron. Dexron is petroleum based 
and is the same as Mercon. Mercon and Dexron are both GM AND Ford spec 
fluids that all oil companies seem to manufacture.

Dexron, the petroleum based fluid, is incompatible with both Pentosin 
7.1 and Pentosin 11S.
