Sourcing Fuel Pump

Thank you everyone again.

 Alex,

Indeed, when a fuel pump starts with the buzzing
sound, it's a sign that is on its way out.

Same thing that happen to your car happened to my 87
VW Quantum Syncro. Good thing I was only about 5
miles away from home.

The pump had been buzzing for about 4 months prior
to that.

I replaced it with a new Bosch one, (I think, could
be a rebuilt from Discount Auto Parts @ $193 +
tax--did
not know any better about sourcing prices--later
found out I could have gotten it for $110 from another
place).

That was about 2 years ago and since new, I have not
heard any operational sound/ noise coming from the
gas tank. Not even when I place my ear close to the
area.

I have a spare 5K non Q non T fuel pump. And a
lister or 2 here as well as Discount lists them as the
same part # as the TQ version.

I will test it out with some gas/ miracle oil
mixture to see if it works before buying a new one.
Even if it works, I know I run the risk it could go
bad since I don't know how old the spare one is.

TIA

-Best Regards,

-Louis
