NAC: Hooking up iPod to factory radio

... that's funny, I've spent a little time trying to figure this one out
myself ...
There are interface boxes that allow iPods to be connected to decks that
weren't originally designed for them ... perhaps Harmon/Kardon has the one
that piques my interest the most:
http://www.harmankardon.com/drive-1/default.aspx
The thing is ... it seems like I should be able to use a Gamma style
Blaupunkt and create my own "silver box" interface that would allow me to
control the iPod from the face of the stereo ... and perhaps even display
stuff on the bitmap display in the dash of my V8s. A friend of mine swapped
in one of the Alpine stereos that has an available iPod interface, and I
love the fact that you can hide the iPod dock somewhere ... in this case
you'd have ultimate stealth ... who'd think a factory stereo from a '90s
European car could talk to an iPod?
Of course I need to decypher at least two interfaces to make this work ...
first is the Blaupunkt interface. I'm collecting the parts I think I'll
need for this one. I have also spent a little time trying to get a spec for
the iPod dock interface ... so far to no avail. I'm pretty sure I should be
able to get this one ...
Now, I know that the original question was for sovloV and Saabs ... if they
also use Blaupunkts it might be workable ... if not, I think I've got a
non-Bose Gamma deck upstairs somewhere ... ;-)
