I recently had the ignition lock and switch replaced on my 90q20v...
worked fine up until a few days ago, then I jiggled the wiring in the
back to get it to work... now it doesn't start at all. I turn the
key and the instrument panel lights don't come on at all... I dont
hear the fuel pump. I partially removed the instrument cluster and
there is a loose connector that is coming out of the main large
connector in the back of the cluster... does that go to anything? Or
should I look elsewhere for a loose wire?

Thanks You!

Dave,
I wonder if the person that installed your ignition lock/switch just
didn't get the electrical part of the deal put together right with the
harness connector and it's come loose...

It's pretty easy to check, and you could have the instrument cluster
out of the car in about 5-10 minutes, by removing the screws that hold
the upper steering column trim on (up from the bottom on either side)
and then removing the two screws that hold it in place. From there,
it's a bit of a contortionist act to get the cluster tilted to one
side or the other and upward to get at the connectors, but it's not
terribly difficult and it will come out. It helps to have a small
flat blade screwdriver to pop open the retaining clips on the
connectors.

from there, just stick your head down in and look to see if the
connector's seated properly. If nothing else, you should either fix
any loose connections that might be behind the cluster, or find the
loose connection at the ignition switch assembly.
