I think it's pretty important on a CIS system. Atomizing the fuel is a large
part of what allows CIS to function well even though the delivery isn't
pulsed.  If I'm not mistaken, they're needle/pintle injectors that open at a
constant pressure and you can try cleaning them by flowing something like
Ventil Sauber through them.  If that doesn't work, you're stuck because you
can't disassemble them and you're looking at buying a new set of injectors.

The car may run, but it won't run properly, without the injectors atomizing
the fuel properly. They can't be that expensive.  Toss the bad ones.
