Lexerol  (Lexol?) put it on, it must have the solvents to loosen it. 
I'd try another applications of Lexerol, let the solvents work their
magic on the old stuff, cross your fingers, hold your breath, and 
see what happens.

Maybe a visit to the FLAPS to read what is in Lexol would give you 
the magic ingredient. Or try searching the web -- Google on: Lexol
ingredients.

You might try their leather cleaner. I would think their cleaner would
clean their own stuff.
