Long wheelbase V8?

While perusing the family album the other day, it came to my
attention that there was a long wheelbase V8 manufactured
along side the 90-94 V8 we all know and fear (to maintain).
I suppose I should have known this.

Does anyone know if these where commonly available in
the US and whether they may have borne an 'L' marking
of some kind? Just curious.
