Turbo Miatas and R32-34 Skyline GT-Rs often have heat shields around the
master cylinder- the turbo is really close in most Miata setups.

I don't think there is anything wrong with venting the driver's side
wheelwell for better radiator function.

It's also not a bad idea to vent the hood behind the turbo/manifold area,
helps keep underhood temps down.
