CAUTION - Blatent Advertisement ...
my appologies to list members who aren't interested.
In the last 6 or 8 months several people have emailed me about
wastegate springs for MC engines. I've told them that I didn't
have any left, that I'd get some made and get back the them.
I finally had another batch manufactured, and I can't find the
list of people who had asked. So I figured I throw a note out
here on the Quattro list for anyone that's still interested.
What I've got are replacement wastgate springs, that I had made
for the 86-89 MC code engine. I believe they are also suitable
for other cars, but I haven't tested them in others ... I had an
86 5kCSTQ when I made these.
I've also got several pages of instructions on how to install
the spring and how to wire a bypass for the engine computer's
overboost control. Yes, it's possible to modify the overboost
cutoff threshold in the ECU, but the down and dirty way is to
hook up a one wire bypass; the major bad part is that the bypass
wire also defeats the ECU's RPM limiter function.
These will increase the boost from 1.3 bar on the dash guage to
1.6 - 1.7 bar. You can further shim this with a 1/8" washer to
get another 0.1 bar boost - giving 1.7 to 1.8 bar.
The seat of the pants improvement is very noticable.
I'm not running a business, and I'm not trying to make any money from
this project. If you want one, send me your mailing address and I'll
ship it to you. After you receive it, you can send me a check for $35
per spring, or pay me through PayPal.
