CAA calls

There was a public transport strike on Monday, May 29, 2006 in Toronto. More people used their cars, it was unusually hot for the end of May in Toronto, 31C, air conditioning systems were running in cars, traffic was unusually slow, cars were running hotter.
A CAA service representative advised me on May 29, 2006 in Toronto that more alternators failed than usual, it was one of the busiest nights for road calls in a long time for the CAA and many people don't know of the failures that cars can have on such hot days in slow traffic with air conditioning systems functioning with alternators overloading.

Anyone had any experiences with Audi type 44s overheating and failing alternators? I get nervous when the temperature gage gets around 100C or even a bit over in slow traffic with air conditioning on and in very slow traffic.
