air conditioning, and R12 'substitutes'

Someone once told me that if you mix your R12 with
something else (hc12a, autofrost, freeze12, etc etc)
you need to make sure that in the event someone else
services your system you need to make them aware
you've got something else in your system.

If they don't test what you've got and simply reclaim
your refrigerant, they could contaminate they're
supply.

I have no idea if there's any truth in this since I
don't even know if people even reuse old R12.

Another item I heard is the R12 substitutes do work
great, but if you have a leak they leak out
disproportionately ie you can't keep topping it off
because the % mixture of the refrigerant become less
optimal if some of it has leaked out.
