A6 2.8 no heat or radio

Hi guys and gals, I am a newbie on the list and to Audi ownership, so bear
with me! Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
My recent purchase is a lovely 1997 A6 Avant Quattro 2.8. It is getting cold
up here in the northland and there seems to be no heat output even at the
highest setting. I took apart the plenum area under the hood and observed
the nylon/plastic arms for the heat flap moving properly. Can I assume that
the flap inside is also moving, or is the break that I have read about still
a possible cause?
Second, there seems to be no power to the Delta stereo. I have checked the
fuses and pulled the head unit and checked to see that the plugs are solidly
connected - still nothing. Which of the wires going into the head is the
main power wire? Is there another fuse besides the main radio fuse
somewhere? By the way, the cigarette also does not work - any connection?
Last question, for now: The digital dash readouts for outside temperature,
total miles, and trip meter are extremely dim. Do I have to live with this,
or is there a fix?
And, yes, I have a factory manual ordered and I do have the radio code.
Peace,
Ben
