Sounds like a vacuum leak. Take off the oil cap while the car is running. If it dies, you probably have no leaks, but if it continues running (even if it's rough), the mixture is likely over-compensated for the leak. Other important things are the idle temp sensor and wiring. I would make sure all the wiring has close to zero ohms going from the sensors & switches to the idle control and ECU. Could even be the idle control unit. Do a tune-up if needed. Check plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. The fuel system may have issues... If you close the full throttle switch, it will give it more fuel. Does that help? Does playing with the mixture screw help? If so, check for proper system and cold/warm control pressure.

im having probs w/ the '86 5kt again....same problem as before.. car starts,
then idles like crap, really low.. shut it off, start up again, idles fine,
then drops down low again after one minute..

the idle switch on the throttle body was replaced.. as well as both temp
switches..  worked fine for a few months, now its doing the same thing again...
ideas?
