blinker buzzing and not working

I found the relay, it us under the dash, But there is only one relay for
both the right and left signals, so that was not the problem.  I took off
the switch cover over the steering wheel column and messed around there for
a while and it magically started working, so I think it must be a problem
with the switch or wiring.

I presume under the dash with most of the others. I did have my signal 
relay go in my S6 - but the dealer replaced it (warranty).  There's a 
whole pile of relays under the dash. Drop the lower dash, make it do 
its noise thing, and put your finger on the relays until you find the 
source.
