if it was sold in the europe then imported into the US
the VIN will
start WAU ZZZ 81Z

the Zs are space fillers in the vin  that we don't use
in europe.

could just be the badges that are imported.

there are people that imported jetta MK3 and MK4
badges into europe
where the golf with a trunk was called Vento and Bora
respectively.
