I had to do this once, what a pain.
I took out the tank, put in a few handfuls of clean gravel, a little
kerosene and shook the hell out of it for a while. Eventually I got the
inside nice and shiny. Then I coated it with a gas tank coating I got
from eastwoods (I think), and lived happily ever after.
