Just a correction here : this is an infrared temperature gun. The laser
is only there to help you aim the gun...

I have one of these here, cheap and useful to diagnose running problems:

- dragging brakes, BTW, solid rear rotors are always hotter than front
vented in normal driving. This is on my urQ which has a pressure
dependent proportioning valve like the 4000Q.

- cooling fan switch failure, common problem on the urQ.

- oil temperature gauge that reads a bit highish, confirmation from the
oil pan temperature lecture with the gun. On the other hand, water temp
gauge is very accurate.

- air vent temperature to evaluate the AC performance (should be less
than 10C with recirculation ON and full blast thru only the center
vent). This saved me some unnecessary refills of R134a...

- evaluate thread temperature inside-center-outside to show alignment or
pressure problems on different than OEM size tires.

Mine is always in the glovebox now.
