high-output alternators?

Brett, is the alternator (stock) in the 200Q pretty much always
struggling to keep up, or is it just sometimes? Because perhaps a
better solution would be an auxiliary battery setup of some sort?
That way, when the load is lower than the alt output, you're getting two
fully charged batteries instead of one to run down during tough times.
And, have you experimented with really beefing up the cabling to the
battery? Like a new 2 ga wire all the way from the alt. output (I know,
a pita...) and 2 ga ground wires - battery to chassis and alt/block to
chassis - even perhaps something also running directly from the battery
ground to the engine block?
I know these beasts have heavy loads at times, but that long run to the
battery, and the multiple ground connections along the way might not
help much.
