I have seen enough in UK scrap yards to know that the
Jag dream is
somewhat different to the reality!
Jag was like BMC who used to do daft stuff like
assemble the boot lid on
the mini (with external hinges) then prime and paint
the car  and wonder
why the boot lids kept falling off.

Having build quality like that and then throwing a v12
in for good
measure seems like suicide,  still I spent 10  years
restoring a  Healey
Sprite, so who am I to talk!
