Intecooler swallows sock! no power or boost.

Yes - that's it.  So it is called a muffler hose.  At least the muffler
material decided to get sucked in in one piece instead of little bits.  Could
hae been a very easy fix had I known what had happened.

My guess would be the foam from inside the black silencer that, erm,  I
haven't got any more
