Chiming in re the Yokohama Guardex 600. I would buy nothing but those
if they were still available. I have a set on my V8 and have never
had a bad moment with them. Almost nix'ed the ability to play
completely, darnit.
Those are now on the GF's automatic V8 and she seems to have lost all
fear of winter driving after one season. Hell, last winter when I was
discouraging her from using the V8 because the timing belt was due,
she drove her Firebird all winter, with all season tires even. But
I'm straying off topic...
The point is, I have remained very happy with those Yoko Guardex 600s.
I've had Blizzaks and then Hakka 1's, Q's, & NRW's on other things in
the past 6 years and those Yoko's come out of the garage and hit the
road and are still equal in every way, in my experience.
Just put a set of Hankook's latest on my '91 Avant. Winter Pike W409.
Looks like an RSi, but who knows what the tread compound is like.
Time will tell. So far they are handling fall usage just fine, but
that's no real test.
