winter tires

Well Huw, my (free) recommendation is for people like me who wants the
absolute best traction in winter, mainly for the fun of it...

Now, as you say, good quality used winter tires are way better than any
summer performance tires. What you'll lose is the last 1/4 of the
performance envelope, but you'll pay half the price.
