I'm wondering something as the winter approaches. Normally I use Mobil 1 in
my 5KCSTQ but because we recently got our turbodiesel truck with its
replacement engine running, I wondered if anyone had ever used Mobil Delvac
Super 1300 in their Audis? It's truck oil, but it's a bit less expensive
than Mobil 1 and we can buy it in bulk. It seems to me that any oil good
enough for a high-capacity turbocharged diesel engine in a truck *might* be
a good choice for use in my Audi. And it could cost me a few dollars less
per change.
Any thoughts?

I've used Delvac 1300 in my cars and customers cars for over 15 yrs here in the Milwaukee, WI area. My only concern is in Jan or Feb when it gets under -10F. The oil gets a bit thick to turn the motor over quickly. I've used I think it is Delvac 1100 in a 10W30 weight.
The great thing about the Devac or Shell Rotella is the much higher detergent level. Keeps the internal parts of the motor and oilways all clean. Much lower ash and sulpher content tna a lot of conventional consumer type oils. On engine teardown, you won't see that grey sludge clay material around the bottom of the pan.
If it has a 4 stroke motor; I use Delvac or Shell Rotella. I used to use the Phillips 66 version of Delvac 1300 for 15 yrs. It was just called a series 3 truck oil; generally was a 15W40. Have used the Delvac and Rotella for the past 15 or 16 yrs, with no issues.
Used on my Hino diesel truck(12yrs), Cummins(6yrs) and various Audis for the past 9 yrs.
