front side windows

Please reply directly. I'm a long time q-list subscriber but do not
belong to your list over here at S Cars.
In researching and attempting to source a driver's door window
for a Type 44 car ('88 5000CSTQ), I received a window from
Audi which did not fit even though it was marked with the correct
p/n. After a fair amount of R&D, test fittings, etc., I have
established, to my satisfaction, that the window was really
intended for an Ur-S4, not a Type 44 car. (You S4 guys may or
may not appreciate that the front side window glass is the same
for both series but that the hardware is not. I can provide more
detail if interested. )
Anyway, what I hope to learn from you good folks is the shape
of the hole in the plastic clip at the bottom of the side windows.
Is the hole that receives the pin from the window lifter round or
oblong? And, if oblong, does the outboard face of that area
of the window mount/clip have a serrated surface as opposed
to smooth? If these observations check out as I suspect they
might, then I will have a strong case against the Audi parts system
with regard to the mislabelling these windows.
Any cogent response will be tremensously appreciated.
Best regards,
DeWitt Harrison
