And I thought this was a South African thing. Our telecoms company loses alot of
copper and in the rural low-income areas they're now getting wireless comms for
telephones.

Over the past few years we've had our public train system ground to a halt
because people have been stealing the overhead power lines. How one
accomplishes that, I really don't know... perhaps they have a "sacrificial"
wire snipper.
