OK, so my friend (who is a dealer like me) buys this 2000 Audi A6 4.2
Quattro with only 44k miles on it. Silver with black leather and clean as a
pin. The idiot runs it into a telephone pole a few weeks back after drinking
too much. I was with him when he bought it at Greater Chicago Auto Auction
(manheim) for $14,800. Hit the pole in the drivers side front corner. No
airbags were deployed (how come?) and it took out the bumper, front fender
as well as pushing it into the door some, took out the xenon lamp unit, and
the hood. He does not want to turn it into insurance if he can find someone
who wants it. He is willing to sell it cheap. Personally, I don't see many
4.2 A6's around, and as you all know, they have different fenders, etc. The
engine is not hurt, the interior is not hurt, all the wheels are not hurt.
Is there anyone on this list interested in buying this car to repair (you
will get a clean title)? If no offers, he will turn it into insurance, and
I don't know what they will do with it...you could probably still get it
from them but not with a clear title. I have photos of the car, and the car
is located on the southside of Indianapolis. The car is definitely
repairable, but you would have to be a seasoned repair guy to put her back
together. In lieu of this being an aluminum unibody car, a bodyshop would go
to town on it on price...hell, I think Audi wants $800 for the xenon
headlight. Just putting it out here among the Audi educated. Would make a
great car for a guy who knows what he's doing in this area.
