captive nut repair question

Hi Jim,
Your idea makes sense, and I believe was discussed
before.
This topic was slightly discussed last week. I'm in
the same boat with my '85 VW QSW.
One of the captive nut's thread ( driver's side front
most) got scored/marred and I was not able screw the
bolt through the subframe bushing.
I looked around for some kind of hole or orifice in
the chassis in the hope to get to the captive nut but
did not find any.
I'm going to take a more scrutinizing look around to
see if there's an access cavity to get to the captive
nut.
Another lister here said that he found a cavity in the
chassis of his Audi 5K and was able to replace the
captive nut, albeit with some creativity to get to it.
If' I'm not able to find a cavity in the chassis, I
think I'm just going to drill one up on the side of
the chassis to get to that damn captive nut and R&R
with a more user friendly piece.
