Just spoke to a mate who is workshop manager in a vw
audi / bosch
specialist in wrexham GB.
he said that he has come across this before

he said, and I quote " the lock mech is bolloxed
internally"
if you have access to the cables and rods, the giving
them a good shake
up and down, may free something off.
Otherwise, you just have to mangle the lock mech until
it releases.
Might be a good idea to get another one then........
