Wow!  Thanks Geraint!  I sincerely appreciate your help.

I mean its not the answer I wanted to here but at least if I get to that 
point (soon), I'll know it may be the only viable option.

I have a spare door that I removed the latch from to see how it works.  
That is how I figured out where I needed to cut the hole in the door panel.

Looks like I may have to get medieval on this be-otch...

UGH!  Audi ownership is definately a love/hate relationship.
